LOUISIANA FEDERAL HELPS RAISE $11,000 FOR DISASTER RELIEF

LaPlace, LA – Attendees at the recently held CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council (CMBDC) Annual Conference raised a record-breaking $11,000 for the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) Hurricane Relief Fund.

Conference attendees participated in the third annual silent and live auction by bidding on 68 items, all of which were donated by attendees themselves. Louisiana FCU donated a custom jewelry piece that was auctioned at $250. “We were pleased to be able to help support the continued efforts of disaster relief. It’s important for us to support these types of efforts – especially those that help our own,” stated Mia Perez, Louisiana FCU’s Director of Marketing and Business Development.

Bob Schumacher, CEO of Snohomish County PUD CU and former NCUF Board Member praised this year’s event. “What was exciting is that they were doing this for the National Credit Union Foundation’s Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Fund. The amount raised was amazing and wonderfully appropriate for a very worthy cause,” said Schumacher. “It is nice to know that even though the disaster occurred some time ago, the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council had the foresight to donate funds for ongoing relief.”

Epitomizing the credit union philosophy of “people helping people”, the auction showcases the best that Council members and the credit union industry have to offer.

Louisiana Federal Credit Union is a full-service not-for-profit financial institution serving over 20,000 members in the River Parishes and Tangipahoa Parish area.

The CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council is a member-led organization comprised of more than 800 credit union professionals from across the United States. The council strives to provide superior educational and networking opportunities to raise the level of professionalism amongst its members, and position marketing and business development as key factors in helping credit unions meet their mission of serving their consumer-members.
