Scholarship

Ronald E Thomas Memorial Scholarship

Nina Hymel, a graduating senior at St. Mary’s Dominican High School, was awarded the 2010 Ronald E. Thomas Memorial Scholarship. Nina’s winning essay—describing what makes her exemplary—was selected from among other graduating senior entries. She plans to attend Loyola University in Chicago this fall to study communications and public relations. Good luck Nina!

Louisiana FCU is now accepting entries for the 2011 Ronald E. Thomas Memorial Scholarship Program. One essay will be selected as the 2011 scholarship recipient and receive $2000.

Essay Topic: “Describe five ways you would improve your local community.”

This year’s topic focuses on ‘local community.’ Today’s young adults are making a significant impact on their own local communities: from volunteering for a charitable cause to grass root efforts that prompt change. What would you do to make your community a better place to live?

How to Participate:
Must be a high school senior of the Class of 2011
Must be a member of Louisiana FCU or eligible for
membership
Complete an essay between 400–500 words in length
Include a cover sheet with your name, phone number,
address, and high school name

E-mail your entry to scholarship@louisianafcu.org. All essays must be received by December 1, 2010. The recipient will be chosen and notified in January 2011.
