A few weeks ago my dad and little sister, who shall remain nameless, decided to go for a leisurely bike ride in our neighborhood. They were going to enjoy the weather and spend some quality time together. Unfortunately, it did not turn out to be an enjoyable ride because my sister was involved in a hit and run! Yes, she crashed into a neighbor's mailbox and then fled the scene, leaving my dad behind to resolve the issue. Thankfully, my sister was not injured but the mailbox was cracked in half. My dad not only had to explain the broken mailbox to the neighbor but he also had to fix it. My dad is a handy guy but he is not a welder and had to pay to get it fixed. Fortunately, my parents were able to pay for the repairs but it was not cheap.
If you had an unexpected expense, would you be prepared? Do you have a little extra money saved in case of an emergency? Many experts say that we should have four to six months worth of our expenses saved in an account for these instances. Take a look at your savings account and see if you would be able to pay all your bills if something were to happen. At times, it may be hard to put that little extra money towards the savings but it will be a huge benefit in the future if something does come up unexpectedly. There are some easy ways to pad that savings account like saving all your change and depositing it to your savings. Having a certain amount of your paycheck directly deposited to a savings account is a great way to save and it adds up quickly!! There are plenty of websites that have great tips on saving money.
