Are you in LIMBO?

Are you in limbo? Are you in LIMBO? According to Oxford Dictionaries, limbo means “An uncertain period of awaiting a decision or resolution; an intermediate state.”

Getting married to my best friend was the most wonderful decision I had ever made, but getting married and graduating college in the same year brought on many struggles. As my husband and I transition from struggling college students to married graduates, and trying to start our own family, we find ourselves stuck in the grey area or what you would call limbo.

Beginning this new life with brand new careers, we are extremely excited to start looking to buy our first home. However, with student loan debt, no credit, and hardly anything saved, that new house is merely just a dream.

My husband and I now want to make this dream a reality by saving. We put a percentage of our paychecks into two separate savings accounts; we have decided that eating out should be for special occasions or celebrations and not every other night; and I also had to cut back on my shopping addiction… which has been the hardest part.

Now we play the waiting game of saving for a down payment. Sometimes I think to myself, “If only we would have had a savings plan in place from the start, then I could be sitting on my new front porch drinking my coffee milk!”

The key to success is starting early. Knowing how to save is crucial for your future. That new car, new home or even vacation you have been dreaming of may be within your grasp, and that savings account might be your make-or-break factor in reaching those financial goals.

Using just these small saving adjustments have made our lives much easier. We are now on the right track to success and looking forward to seeing our hard work and sacrifice pay off as we buy our first home.
