Have you seen Swamp People, Duck Dynasty, Cajun Pawn Stars, Bayou Billionaires, Redneck Vacation, or Buying the Bayou? All of these reality shows display what Louisiana living is all about. Although some scenes push the stereotypes, they also show the down home family oriented aspect of our area. I love living where everyone knows you or at least knows someone who knows you. "How's your mom and them?" can be heard almost daily. A stranger can become a friend in the checkout line. Our community has had a very emotional few months and while it seems that things will never go back to “normal” there is always hope that tomorrow will be better than the last day. Credit cards, debit cards, eStatements and online banking; through these forums our society is going paperless. As technology progresses we are becoming less dependent on a staple in our society. We rarely use file cabinets, now they are just an icon on our computer screen. Emails have replaced hand written letters and I wonder if one day we will even know how to write in cursive? With the good also comes the bad. Information is instant and at our fingertips but not everything is safe. We must constantly update our security because identity theft is on the rise. Anyone can access...
