Hurricane season is already here, along with the sweltering heat. News outlets are always telling us to be prepared and to get ready for a busy hurricane season. But, how many of us are truly prepared the way we are supposed to be prepared? I know in my household we are not properly prepared. We have some essentials but will that last if we have no power for over a week? Do we really have the necessary items that will benefit our needs? I remember one time I was packing to evacuate and my dad asked me if I was ready and I told him “No, I don't have enough room in my suitcase!” He looked and said “Natalie, do you really need 15 pairs of socks?” We may think we are prepared, but are those the most important items?
Being hurricane ready does not just involve food resources, clothing and shelter but financial resources as well. Do you have enough cash to get by or are you willing to wait until the last minute, like everyone else, and wait in long lines withdrawing cash? Many people do not realize that financial institutions do not have regular business hours a day or two before an approaching storm. So, it is always a good idea to have cash ready and in a safe place. If you want this hurricane season to go a lot smoother than previous seasons; check out these sites for helpful tips:
