Have you seen Swamp People, Duck Dynasty, Cajun Pawn Stars, Bayou Billionaires, Redneck Vacation, or Buying the Bayou? All of these reality shows display what Louisiana living is all about. Although some scenes push the stereotypes, they also show the down home family oriented aspect of our area. I love living where everyone knows you or at least knows someone who knows you. "How's your mom and them?" can be heard almost daily. A stranger can become a friend in the checkout line. Having lived away from southeast Louisiana for a few years, I can assure you that we live in the best place in the United States! This explains why I came back years ago with my husband and three children.
Working hard and playing hard with loved ones is how I describe our lifestyle. As I look around, I see women and men in work uniforms with their company's logo proudly embroidered above their name. They walk into the Credit Union to handle their financial needs. They buy the finest local foods at our markets and vegetable stands. In my humble opinion, there is no better place for sausage or andouille. I meet up with those same hard workers at the school fairs enjoying the food and festivities. I even ran into a couple in Alabama on the way back from vacation last year. Once they discovered that I worked at the Credit Union and I had an ESJ student, it was like a family reunion. It is truly a pleasure to work and play with such wonderful people who recognize the value small town life.
I wonder what they would call a reality show based on the life of the Louisiana FCU family?
